Since he was looking for something new anyway, everything worked out quite well. I had a bit of creative freedom in that the only directions I had were 'make it blue, navigation on the right'. I like the navigation on the right, mainly because it's so different than the norm. The bar with the logo on the top originally spanned the entire page, but that was changed not only for technical reasons, but to preserve the look of the white content area being self-contained, or sitting by itself over the blue.
