Along with selling music, CocoeBiz (see previous page) is also in the business of making English-based websites to allow people unfamiliar with Japanese to learn about the composers over there of games and the like. The first of these was for Noriyuki Iwadare, a very well-known composer for Game Arts titles such as LUNAR and Grandia. I was lucky enough to be familiar with the person behind CocoeBiz when the second of these composers was contacted for making an English site.
Built as an alteration of the Japanese site in terms of colors and simplicity, this one probably won't jump out at you. Rather than go with solid black like the Japanese site, I used multiple shades of gray, so it kept the dark neutral look (except for the vibrant, multi-color header) but did so on more levels than a single tone could do. As you'll see in the mockup designs here, the color-coded sidebar was to be done simply in HTML/CSS, to keep the image count low. Some of the lists were a bit long, so it ended up better to use images in the end, as you can see on the final site above, on some pages like the Discography.
