A merger of the web's two biggest Mega Man sites meant not only more coverage, but also that it was time for a new look. Since a Mega Man site was something I always wanted to make anyway, I didn't hesitate in making an offer to handle Mega Man Network. The result is something I'm quite proud of. From the header image featuring each iteration of Mega Man, to the orange background which seemed oddly fitting... to the rollover images for navigation. One thing I was deadset on using was the 'energy bars' to the left and right of the navigation. In the games, Mega Man's energy was displayed as little 1-pixel tall increments inside a glass-like tube. I managed to fit them in here just as I wanted, and it ended up looking rather nice as well. As another nod to the games, the left one was tinted yellow to match life energy, with the right side tinted blue to mimic special weapon energy. It may seem pointless to some, but to fans of the game, I felt it was a nice detail.
A variation on the main logo can be seen below. It's not exactly as easy to read as the final version, but it had a neat look to it.
