Ayla is the chief of the Ioka village, one of two tribes in the prehistoric era. There's always been a rivalry between the humans and Reptites, and Ayla is always there to fight them. Though it's unclear how or when they met before, Ayla has conversed with the Reptite leader Azala in the past. You'll fight Azala and the Reptites a few times with Ayla in your party. The second in charge in the village is Kino, who Ayla has somewhat of a relationship with. Though you don't see a whole lot of evidence of Ayla's feelings in the game, Kino is a little more than obvious at times.
